8th MUSIC MASTANI MONTHLY AWARDS (DECEMBER 2014)

Time to wind up the musical year of 2014 with the last monthly award of the year and the penultimate award of the year (Annual awards are pending!) This time, I’m not hosting any kind of voting (thaw will commence for monthly awards of 2015) because this month was very short in terms of music and had only four albums which I reviewed. 🙂

A quick summary and we’ll start 🙂

Action Jackson by Himesh Reshammiya came first with a very, very unexpected soundtrack (and I mean that for the worse) and a quite irritating album, also getting undeserved hit status. :\ The music industry has seen much, much better days than the day this album released!

Then came everyone’s laadla PK which was a multi-composer album, by Shantanu Moitra, Ajay-Atul & Ankit Tiwari. All the songs were beautiful and awesome, but Ankit’s song, though an individual gem, did not quite blend in well with the other songs in the album! Anyways, it was a ‘perfectionist’ album!

Lingaa by A.R. Rahman was another great soundtrack by him, which would after to the north audience as well. Even the dubbing by Gulzar didn’t sound funny. It was a nice attempt by Gulzar. Rahman just delivered yet again what he’s best at — hits!

Then, the unnoticed one Mumbai Delhi Mumbai by Sawan Dutta and Rohan Rohan. Had the film’s promotions been better, this album could have topped some charts! A true surprise package!

And here are the awards:
