It is again time to announce the monthly awards for Music Mastani, and time for you to vote as well! 🙂

This October, we had three big (huge) movies that released, from which the expectations were sky-high.

Haider by Vishal Bhardwaj came first and most certainly met the expectations, and it also gave my blog the second album to be rated a ‘सां’ The musical richness of the songs was so great that I just couldn’t help but give it such a high rating.

Happy New Year by Vishal-Shekhar, Manj Musik & Dr. Zeus came up next. Of course expectations were too much, because of the past track record of Farah Khan & SRK. However, the album didn’t quite meet expectations and turned out to be a mediocre affair. It shows: Quality is better than Quantity!

Bang Bang was next to arrive with Vishal-Shekhar at the helm again. Unlike ‘Happy New Year’, here they performed way better and provided all four songs that had immense repeat value! The Siddhartha Anand & Vishal-Shekhar combination is unbreakable!

Apart from these huge releases, many small (& mostly tedious) albums released as well.

Let’s start with the fairly better ones out if the small albums.

The best of all was surely Jigariyaa by Agnel-Faizan & Raj-Prakash. The traditional Indian touch was visible, at the same time providing fresh songs that are attemptable even today. Suffice it to say that this album was way better than that of ‘Happy New Year’!

The other great album out of the small ones was Tamanchey, by Krsna, Arko Pravo Mukherjee & Ikka Singh (though the latter in no way contributed to the greatness of the album — he just gave some annoying noises for a club song 😂 ) Surprisingly, the songs by Krsna & Arko were very good musically and were written and sung well, too. The original stars (Sonu Nigam & Mohit Chauhan) sounded great with their renditions of the songs.

Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami by Ram Sampath fared pretty well, too. The calm and soothing songs were too good, but the contemporarily noisy songs, at the same time, were a bit too annoying! It turned out to be a disappointing album from Ram.

Sonali Cable, with its horde of composers, namely Amjad-Nadeem, Daniel B. George, Mikey McCleary & Raghav Sachar, didn’t provide us with such a great soundtrack either. The songs by Amjad-Nadeem, Raghav & Mikey were atleast tolerable. But those by Daniel were either too loud or too boring! Amjad-Nadeem gave in this soundtrack, however, one of the best songs of this month, ‘Ek Mulaqat’ and also introduced a talented and fresh new voice, Jubin Nautiyal.

Last up was Super Nani. Many expectations were there from Harshit Saxena, because of his past record, but he did not quite meet them. In fact, Sanjeev-Darshan finished that job for him, even though they were the guess composers! So, that was an ordinary affair by Harshit!

That was the musical summarization and analysis of the month of October 2014, so now let’s see who the winners are!

Hope you all agree with the winners and the nominations for the voting parts! 🙂

Here we go!
